LOVE OF A RENEGADE (by Gaylynn Robinson)

I’ve been up since sunrise burning asphalt beneath my feet

I’m tired and I’m hungry but I don’t have the strength to eat

Another lonely day in this dead-end town how did I get so far from home

And every year I’m a little more alone; yes, every year I’m a little more alone

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever be satisfied

It takes more than things to keep a restless heart alive

And the worst blow is what it comes down to I can’t remember who I am

In every way it takes a saint just to understand; yes, every way it takes a saint just to understand

And the blood flowing through my veins won't set me free

With this scornful Irish temper and the spirit of a Cherokee

Well I love you the best I can but remember just one thing

It’s hard to hold the Love of A Renegade. It’s so hard to hold the Love of A Renegade

I was born out west with the song of the wind in my soul

I’m as elusive as a dream I’ve yet to hold

And the painted skies on the open plains have claimed my spirit for their own

And every day I reap the seeds I’ve sown; yes, every day I reap the seeds I’ve sown

(repeat chorus)

POWER OF LOVE (by Gaylynn Robinson)

I was born the 5th in a row, my daddy died when I was a year old

Our Mama took us by the hand she said you’ve got to understand

When the road ahead gets tough hold on tight and don’t you give up

You’ve got to believe in the Power of Love, depend on it to rise above

When the times get hard and the going gets tough, you’ve got to believe in

The Power of Love

My brother got himself in a bad scrape, thrown from a truck back in ‘68

The doctors said he may never walk, he wouldn’t listen to that kind of talk

Not once did it cross his mind to give up hope now he’s walking real fine

(repeat chorus)

No greater power in heaven or earth, divinely granted to us at birth to pull us through any tragedy, it’s always there in time of need

I was told back before I was born, my family lived on a Wyoming farm

One blizzard night the house burned to the ground all was lost nothing could be found

No sooner did the neighbors know, they pulled together and built us a new home

(repeat chorus)

THE ENDLESS FALL (by Gaylynn Robinson)

Nobody knows nobody sees all the strange indifferent things coming over me

Nobody cares cause no one can feel the going up was just pretend the coming down is real

And it hurts to be hurting it’s sad to be sad because I wasn’t certain this old heart has gone bad,  I swam the raging river but received no praise at all picked up a few bad habits and began The Endless Fall

More times than many I’ve accepted loneliness by creating a circumstance with no alternatives relying on the minutes to bring me closer to the day when my questions could be answered by looking back at my mistakes

(repeat chorus)

TOGETHER FOREVER (by Gaylynn Robinson)

She was a good girl from the right side of town

He was his Mama’s only son, he’d been around

No one could tell them that they were wrong, no one could break them because their love was so strong - Together Forever Together

Long summer nights under the Texas sky

Kindled the flame everyone said would die

Lost in the moment they could not see

How one night of passion would form their destiny - Together Forever Together

And life they chose was far from paradise

And the rocky roads were even sometimes covered with ice

And when that baby cried they pushed their dreams aside to stand Together Forever Together

The odds were against them, they were so very young

Hungry and restless oh how they wanted to run

They ran from each other searching for dreams to reclaim

And only discovered that they were to remain Together Forever Together

And life they chose is sometimes paradise

And the rocky roads they even smooth them over sometimes

And in their daughter’s eyes they find their compromise to stand Together Forever Together

RIDIN’ THAT OL’ LONESOME TRAIL (by Gaylynn Robinson)

What do you want from me, won’t you help me understand

Are you too blind to see I want you to be my man

Every time I’m with you, my tears start welling up

I feel just like a school girl who’s been hit by a truck - Out of luck

Well I feel like I’m in quicksand going down real slow

Baby give me your hand I need something strong to hold

I may be taking a high dive in low lying well

But I don’t want to end up Ridin’ That Ol’ Lonesome Trail

I don’t have no money, I can’t buy you fancy things

But what I can give you will put a smile upon your face

I’ll do anything that you want me to

You know I use to be a good girl ‘til I ran into you - What can I do

(repeat chorus)

Sometimes I want to quit you but my heart puts up a fight

And then you sneak into my sweet dreams like a thief out of the night

You take my heart for ransom and make me pay the price

You’re the tall dark and handsome trouble on my mind - All the time

(repeat chorus)

STILL LOVING YOU (by Gaylynn Robinson)

When you hold her in your arms do you ever think of me

Or has she taken you away to a place you want to be

Tell me is she really worth the pain you've put me through

While you're lying there with her I'm all alone with me

Still Loving You

Still Loving You while you're still loving her the hurt I go through ain't what I deserve

Nothing has changed I'm still the same Still Loving You

It's raining here in Houston, haven't seen the sun for days

I'm a captive of my heart with no place to escape

You didn't even have the words to tell me we were through

I was a bridge for you to burn and when the smoke clears you'll find me

Still Loving You

(repeat chorus)

SO VERY NEAR (by Gaylynn Robinson)

This old heart was killing me, I tried to find a remedy like some lost child so far from home Looking for a comfort zone then I found you and it became so clear what sometimes seems so far away is oh So Very Near

I looked for love in darkened rooms but morning comes and sheds the truth

And whispers deep within my soul you can't feel love with a heart that's cold

Then I found you and it became so clear what sometimes seems so far away is oh

So Very Near

You can look high and low, search the world here and far and it's a sight to behold when the one you're looking for is in your backyard

Now this old heart is beating true though far apart my love's with you and if you need me, I'll be here to share you're laughter or dry your little tears

Since I found you it's become so clear what sometimes seems so far away is oh So Very Near, oh So Very Near

RANEY STREET (by Gaylynn Robinson)

Five little kids in a 6 room house with only one bathroom to share

Mama worked late we tried to behave but sometimes we faltered a hair

Sometimes we laughed sometimes we cried but love's something we never lacked and I'd give everything I own today if I could only go back

Not paved of gold our Raney Street, tar and gravel stickin' to our little bare feet

So young and bold we knew no retreat and it never really rained on Raney Street

Those were the days when the simplest things were what we cherished the most, a tree house view, a sky of blue and a nickel return on our cokes

And the neighbors back then were all real good friends and we watched each other grow up and it amazes me how one small street could harbor so much love

(repeat chorus)

DREAMS COME TRUE (by Gaylynn Robinson)

There was a time not long ago when I thought love was just for show there wasn't a heart beating I didn't try to take then I found you and realized and now I'm here to testify love's hit me like a California quake

At first I tried to shake it off the more I tried the more you fought I must admit you won hands down before we finished our first round

Dreams Come True since I met you we're building bridges and knocking down old walls, Dreams Come True since I met you I've found my happy ending after all

It sure did take me by surprise when I looked into your green eyes my heart felt something special that it could not ignore

My feet fell out from under me, stripped of all my dignity I was thinking things I'd never thought before

Like thoughts of changing my last name my life will never be the same there's really no place I can hide your love's hit me right 'tween the eyes

(repeat chorus)

Love is so miraculous and our friends sure do envy us nothing passed or present can compare with how I feel

Some folks try their whole lives through to find someone as sweet as you unfortunately some never will

I never thought I'd feel this way but here I am face to face with someone who's turned out to be the only just right for me

(repeat chorus)

ONCE IS ENOUGH (by Gaylynn Robinson)

You call me up out of the blue like nothing's wrong who's fooling who could it be you're running out of luck

It took some time but I'm OK and I intend to stay that way when it comes to loving you, Once Is Enough

The promises you made to me, you seem to break so easily now you're confused why you can't win my trust

I learned my lesson tear by tear, I needed you but you weren't here, when it comes to loving you, Once Is Enough

You burned me so bad that I'm still smoking and that's the last time my heart will be broken

You'll never change my mind no not in this lifetime when it comes to loving you

Once Is Enough

There's nothing more for me to say, Lord only knows the price I've paid

The stakes were high but then what's done is done

I hope you get what you deserve but as for me I'm glad I've learned

when it comes to loving you, Once Is Enough

(repeat chorus)

WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN (by Gaylynn Robinson)

You may find someone you really care about and let your heart decide what you can't live without

Well it appears to me that it ain't love that's blind, it's what you want it to be it's a state of mind

Why do we settle for so little with nothing in return

When Will We Ever Learn, When Will We Ever Learn

And it's a sad affair we have to build a wall to keep our feeling in cause we're afraid we'll fall

Why do we turn our backs when someone reaches out, words that we've left unsaid imprison us with doubts

Why do we settle for so little with nothing in return

When Will We Ever Learn, When Will We Ever Learn

Loved ones we've had in our lives, we let slip away without showing our love until it's too late

Why do we settle for so little with nothing in return

When Will We Ever Learn, When Will We Ever Learn

MY PAIN IS YOUR PLEASURE (by Gaylynn Robinson)

He's looking fine tonight but he always does and that must be Mrs. Right the one that he loves, once in a while he'll smile at me as if to ease my mind but I don't need sympathy for a love that's blind

My Pain Is Your Pleasure, her love is your treasure

I share his fantasy, now she shares his name

You'll never know how I feel, it's true, there's no way to measure

And as long as she loves you too, My Pain Is Your Pleasure

I can't bear watching him acting so nonchalant, how will this story end, will I find what I've lost, I want to be more than a play thing when the mood hits him right but as along as she wears his ring, I guess I'm losing the fight

(repeat chorus)

ADIOS CON RECUERDOS (by Gaylynn Robinson)

I still can't believe he'd really leave her, they've been together 20 years or more He just got tired of the same ol' song and headed right out the door

She said he gave her no warning, he didn't even bother to pack

He just drove away into the night and didn't even look back

Adios Con Recuerdos mi amor, hope you find what you're looking for

But what can you do when the one that you love decides he don't want you no more

I saw him in town just last week, he had a pretty young thing by his side

But I don't dare tell her cause she's not that strong and I know that she'd break down and cry

Adios Con Recuerdos mi amor, hope you find what you're looking for

But what can you do when the one that you love decides he don't want you no more

 THE BORDERLINE (by Gaylynn Robinson)

He had a ruthless reputation so I was told and everybody knew his name from Juarez to El Paso but what people say ain't necessarily so, all I saw in those big brown eyes was a heart of gold

Now life on the border ain't like no other place, you got to learn the streets and know how to read a face

You got to know who to trust and who not to double cross, sometimes it's a find line decided by a moments toss

It's a losing hand out on the Rio Grande, where a man will sell us soul for a taste of the promise land

And the rainbow you find might be the devil's disguise, there's a place between life and death called The Borderline

He was always helping others but he always had time for me, because I knew the life he led I was sworn to secrecy

One night the shots rang out he laid there face down in the Rio Grande mud

And I stood there crying looking down the barrel of a smoking gun

(repeat chorus)
